About FilmLab

Hi there! My name is Abe Fettig, and I’m the developer of FilmLab.

FilmLab came from my personal desire to have a better tool for viewing and digitizing my negatives. I love film photography, but I found the process of organizing, viewing, and digitizing my negatives to be a chore. A lot of this had to do with the tediousness of scanning my negatives using a flatbed scanner. I started thinking about might be possible using the cameras and processing power of modern smartphones. After a couple of years of research and development, and a successful Kickstarter campaign, FilmLab was born.

I’ve worked on many software projects over the last 20 years, but FilmLab has definitely been the most interesting, challenging, and rewarding. And there’s still much more work to do in making great software for film photographers and archivers. If you have ideas or questions, get in touch! Thanks for checking out FilmLab! If you shoot film or work with film, I hope it can make your workflow easier and more enjoyable.
